Why do they cover your face before closing the casket?
Found this on google: When remains are placed “high” in the casket, there is potential for the nose and sometime the hands to come incontact with the cap panel.
Any cosmetics would then rub off and stain the interior.
By placing a tissue or cloth over the face and hands, the chance of staining is eliminated..
Do morticians remove eyes?
We don’t remove them. You can use what is called an eye cap to put over the flattened eyeball to recreate the natural curvature of the eye. You can also inject tissue builder directly into the eyeball and fill it up. And sometimes, the embalming fluid will fill the eye to normal size.
